Management of drooling (like in Cerebral palsy)

Drooling

Salivary glands secrete saliva. The muscles of the mouth move the saliva to the throat to be swallowed. There are three pairs of major salivary glands and hundreds of minor salivary glands in the mouth.

The submandibular salivary glands have long ducts, that open in the floor of the mouth, underneath the tip of the tongue. The sublingual glands lie to the front of the mouth floor and also open with the submandibular gland. Parasympathetic nerves stimulate these glands to secrete saliva.
